We would love for you to consider Arnold Food Pantry as a place where you can make a difference. Volunteers are always needed and welcome. Not only does volunteering help others, but recent studies show it may also help those who volunteer. See the report: The Health Benefits of Volunteering.

To volunteer in the Food Pantry

When volunteering as a group (4 or more), please give us advance notice of the date(s) you would like to help.

Individuals (or less than 4 in your group): Feel free to call to let us know you are planning to help or you can just come in, complete the volunteer forms, and we'll put you work.
New volunteers are welcome at the Food Pantry:

Monday and Tuesday: 10 am-3 pm
-
Wednesday-Friday: 9:00 am - 3 pm
-
Saturday and Sunday: 9:30 am-noon (sometimes later)

Drivers/Riders will be needed by 8:30 am

Volunteers come in all ages, with various abilities and skills. There is a task for almost anyone who wishes to help. Both regular and occasional help is welcome. This is a great opportunity for school service clubs, churches, families, organizations, businesses, retirees, and those able to spare a few hours now and then to assist others in need.
We are currently in need of drivers for our vans so please give us a call or stop by.
Some of the Tasks for our Volunteers Food Service Area:

Sort various items into food or household categories.
-
Mark items, check expiration dates, check for severely damaged items and discard items unfit for human consumption or use.

Box and bag items.
-
Stock and store donations.
-
Clean and sort fruit.
-
Drivers for food collection from area stores
Thrift Store:
-
Thrift store cashier (retail experience a plus).
-
Sort, store, price, and stock donations.
-
Clean and organize.
Office:
-
Office help for various skill levels.
-
Computer skills.
-
Answer phones, take messages.
Fundraising:

Help plan, promote, and organize fundraisers

To volunteer in The Thrift Store
Stop by the register at the Thrift Store and let us know that you are interested in volunteering. We will give you a volunteer form that you may fill out. We will conduct a back round check on you and if we are interested, we will call you for an interview.

You can also help by:

Offering to display flyers publicizing Arnold Food Pantry fundraising events at your business, church or organization.

Mention our events in your church or work bulletins and newsletters.

Attend our fundraising events.

Hold your own fundraiser for the Pantry.

Serve on a Pantry fundraising planning committee.
We do ask that our Volunteers:
Exhibit a friendly, caring attitude and respect for our clients, other volunteers, staff, patrons, donors and other persons who may visit the pantry. Respect the confidentiality of our clients.
When volunteering please:
-
Arrive with a neat and clean appearance.

Wear your volunteer shirt provided by the pantry or thrift store.

When wearing shorts, we ask that they be mid thigh or longer.

Leave purses and valuables at home or locked in your vehicle. The Pantry cannot be held responsible for lost or stolen items.
For safety Reasons:

Wear closed-toed shoes (No sandals, flip flops, slippers, or high heels).
-
Do not wear extremely loose clothing or dangling jewelry.

Dress appropriately for performance of tasks and conditions.
